Crystal Cathedral ministry swaps congregations with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, who paid $57 million last year for the Cathedral campus (seen above).
The Crystal Cathedral Ministries plans to relocate to a Roman Catholic parish a mile away at St. Callistus next year. Meanwhile, that church's congregation will migrate to the Crystal Cathedral's in Garden Grove campus.
John Charles, president of Crystal Cathedral Ministries, says the Catholic diocese will allow his Protestant organization to use the St. Callistus campus rent-free through December 2013. After that, the ministries will pay rent starting at $25,000 per month.
Charles says he’ll announce transition details, a new name for the ministries and plans to televise the “Hour of Power” from the new location later. The Christian TV program has been on the air for more than 40 years.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange paid $57 million last year to buy the Crystal Cathedral campus in Garden Grove. It plans to swap its congregation, which had been worshipping at the St. Callistus Catholic Church, to their new campus, along with the diocese’s administrative offices.
The diocese plans to announce its new name for the Crystal Cathedral this weekend.
