A mother bear and two cubs appear to have headed back into the hills after a visit to the suburbs of Los Angeles, where they took a dip in a backyard hot tub.
City News Service reports the three bears were spotted Saturday on a four-acre property in Altadena, near the edge of Angeles National Forest. The bears were nowhere to be found when sheriff's deputies arrived.
Authorities aren't sure if it's the same momma and two cubs that spent the day in the neighborhood on May 3. Those three bears climbed and tumbled overs fences into several yards and took naps in a tree.
CNS says black bears were introduced into the San Gabriel Mountains in 1933. Sheriff's deputies say all local bears are descendants of 11 "problem" bears relocated from Yosemite National Park.
