Northbound lanes on 2 Freeway in Glendale open after brush fire

Firefighters in Glendale have put out a 2-acre brush fire near the 2 Freeway at Mountain Street. The blaze was sparked around noon.

All lanes of the 2 Freeway have since been reopened. Northbound lanes had been closed as crews battled the fire.

California Highway Patrol Officer Min Hsun advises drivers to avoid the area as much as possible. He says there’s not much you can do to get around that traffic jam.

"If you’re already on the 2 Freeway, there really is not alternatives unless you exit at York or Verdugo, San Fernando — one of the side streets. If you’re traveling on the 5, you should just stay on the 5 and access the 134 from there. Aside from that, there really is no alternative unless you go well up north to the 210 and travel back down."

There's word yet on when those northbound lanes will reopen. The fire didn’t injure anyone.

The fire is still under investigation
