Police break the window of the apartment of of James Holmes, the suspect of a shooting in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. According to reports, 12 people have been killed and 59 wounded when James allegedly opened fire inside the a movie theater showing the "The Dark Knight Rises."
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is on heightened alert in response to the theater shooting in Colorado that left 12 dead and almost 60 injured. Sheriff Sandra Hutchens says the department is on heightened alert and will have an increased presence at entertainment venues and other large gathering places in the county.
Hutchens says the Sheriff’s Department has response plans in place to act quickly and protect people if an emergency happens, and that they are actively reaching out to movie theaters in the county to review safety protocols.
The department's first responders are equipped with the needed resources should “a similar incident happen” in Orange County, according to the sheriff.
She also asks people in Orange County to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
