Many don't immediately connect voting with art, but the Orange County Registrar of Voters is giving residents a chance to showcase their artistic talents at a Santa Ana art museum.
The Registrar’s “Spirit of Democracy Art Competition” is intended to encourage younger or future voters, but all ages can enter.
Artists in the first grade and older can submit original artwork related to themes of democracy, voting, civic engagement and volunteerism — to the Registrar of Voters office.
Winners will be selected and their artwork will be displayed in an exhibit at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in August.
Prizes will be awarded in three age categories.
Orange County is the fifth largest voting jurisdiction in the United States with 1.6 million registered voters.
Submissions must be emailed to email@example.com by no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012.
