National Alzheimer's expert advises caregivers in free OC workshop

Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease poses unique emotional challenges that can take a heavy toll on family members.

A free workshop in Yorba Linda Tuesday evening will offer strategies on how to make the task easier to bear.

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is sponsoring the workshop that features nationally-recognized dementia expert, Teepa Snow.

During the three-hour session, Snow will offer family members hands-on advice and role-playing on how to handle the emotional strains and challenges associated with caring for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia.

About 44,000 Orange residents suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease, according to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

The workshop takes place Aug. 14, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Friends Church, 5181 Lakeview, Yorba Linda, Calif. It's open to the public, but seats are limited and pre-registration is suggested.
