A thousand sighs of relief were heard Saturday from drivers using the southbound 605 Freeway to get to the southbound 405.
A major connector ramp is back open, after spending two weeks closed as part of a project to widen the 405 Freeway and link carpool lanes. The construction, part of the Orange County Transportation Authority's $277 million project to ease traffic, was completed earlier than expected.
Joel Zlotnik of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) said more than 54,000 cars a day connect from the 605 to the 405 using the connector.
A detour caused some backups during afternoon rush hour while it was closed, but no major problems — or “carmageddon.”
