Orange County prosecutors have secured a gang injunction that clamps down on a west Orange County street gang in Stanton.
It’s a court order that bars documented gang members from certain activities in designated “safety zones.”
This injunction is the 11th in Orange County, and covers an area in Stanton that in recent years has seen assaults, burglary and a murder.
Officials say the multi-generational Stanton street gang is one of the oldest in Orange County. It’s been active since the 1950’s and includes about 30 members.
There are 45 permanent gang injunctions in place in Los Angeles, some of which the LAPD says have had a “remarkable effect.”
Officials in Orange County credit injunctions with reducing crime by as much as 65 percent in the “safety zones.”
