Early morning helicopter crash kills 3 working on reality TV show

Authorities say three people have been killed in a pre-dawn helicopter crash in a rural area of northern Los Angeles County.

Deadline Hollywood reported the three were shooting an as-yet-untitled military show produced by JD Roth and Tedd Nelson’s Eyeworks Group-owned 3 Ball Prods. (The Biggest Loser) for Discovery Channel

Los Angeles County Fire dispatcher Robert Diaz says the crash occurred about 3:40 a.m. Sunday at the Polsa Rosa Ranch in Acton. Diaz says everyone on board died.

KCAL-TV quotes an LA Film Commission official who says a production company had filed permits to shoot a TV reality show on the ranch. Filming began Saturday and included the use of a helicopter.

Television footage showed mangled wreckage in a rugged canyon area near Soledad Canyon Road.

In a statement to Deadline, Discovery said, "We are all cooperating fully with authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families.”
