Authorities say two people walking on tracks were hit and killed by trains in separate incidents in Southern California.
In Los Angeles, fire department officials say a pedestrian was hit and killed by a Metrolink commuter train running from downtown L.A. to the Antelope Valley. No further information was immediately available on that victim.
About nine hours earlier, San Diego County sheriff's officials say a man was hit by an Amtrak passenger train near an intersection in Encinitas. The man was declared dead at the scene. The coroner is working to determine the man's identity and official cause of death.
No one on either train was hurt.
