A member of the Moreno Valley school board was sentenced Friday to 14 years in prison. Rios was convicted last month of pimping, pandering and insurance fraud.
The 42-year-old Rios, elected to the school board in 2010, was sentenced to prison for his role in running a sex-for-money operation out of his home and filing fraudulent auto insurance claims.
He’s also charged with attempted murder and illegal possession of a weapon for allegedly shooting at two men who followed him home after a dispute at a Moreno Valley bar last year.
Rios has consistently pleaded not guilty, insisting all the charges were fabricated to kill his political career.
