Man shot by Santa Ana police during pursuit dies

One of two people shot by Santa Ana police during a stolen-car chase has died.

 Jason Hallstrom, 41, died on Saturday.

Police were chasing a stolen Nissan Sentra on March 15  northbound on the 5 Freeway when the car drove onto a street and crashed. Authorities say two men jumped out and were shot as they tried to run away.

The other man, 29-year-old Travis Mock, survived his wounds. He pleaded not guilty last week to unlawful taking of a vehicle and other charges.

No officers were injured.
