A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting Monday night in Pomona.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is assisting Pomona police in the investigation.

Sheriff’s Deputy Aura Sierra-Lidman said Pomona officers were responding to a “family disturbance” call in the 500 block of Carruthers Court about 8:30 p.m. Monday when a man approached them with a large kitchen knife.

“The suspect refused Pomona officers orders to drop the knife, at which time a taser was deployed, but it was ineffective," she said. "The suspect (acted aggressively towards) the officers, knife in hand, resulting in an officer involved hit shooting.”

The man was transported to a hospital, but died of his injuries. No officers were injured.
