Big rig crash jams 210, westbound lanes still closed (Map)

Update, 12:15 p.m. - The westbound #1 lane and carpool lane are still closed just east of Huntington Drive in Monrovia after a big rig crashed into the center divider early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The lanes are expected to fully re-open after 2 p.m. today, said Officer Saul Gomez of CHP.

Correction - An earlier update falsely reported all lanes as now open. Two westbound lanes are still closed.

A big rig carrying about 35,000 pounds of grapes crashed through the center divider of the eastbound 210 Freeway in Monrovia today, blocking some lanes in both directions but resulting in no injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The carpool and two left lanes were blocked on the westbound side and the carpool and the left lane was blocked on the eastbound side, according to CHP.

The crash occurred about 4:50 a.m. at Huntington Drive, said CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos.

According to the preliminary investigation, the driver, for an unknown reason, “allowed his big rig to go left and hit the center divider,” Villalobos said.

Officers blocked the carpool lanes and the No. 1 lanes in both directions, along with the No. 2 westbound lane while crews worked to clear the scene.
