With the Memorial Day three-day weekend come the DUI checkpoints. From Pasadena, Malibu, downtown all the way to the Arizona border to Blythe, officers will be out Saturday night and Sunday night from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. We will update this list with more as we hear about them.

If you're looking for alternatives to the typical taxi or designated driver, there are two new driving apps that have launched services in Los Angeles: UberLyft and SideCar. Uber is an on-demand driving service, so you can use its app to get a car to drive you from where you are, to wherever you need to be. Lyft and Sidecar both launched earlier this year, but instead of a taxi, it's on-demand carpool ride-sharing. You can get paid up to $35 an hour to carpool. Have you tried these services in Los Angeles? Let us know what you think about them in the comments.

On the 405 construction front, there's some good news and typical news. 1.7 miles of a northbound lane between the 10 and Santa Monica Boulevard is back in action, according to supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky. And now for more construction closures: starting Thursday for a week until May 31, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Cotner Avenue will be closed from Santa Monica Boulevard to Ohio Avenue, due to Department of Water & Power construction. Friday night, Sepulveda Boulevard will also be closed from Ohio Avenue to Wilshire Boulevard from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m to continue constructing the future off-ramp.
