Fire crews are making progress on surrounding a wildfire in the Los Padres National Forest near Santa Barbara. The White Fire is 1,858 acres and 80 percent contained as of Wednesday morning.
Santa Barbara County Fire Captain David Sadecki says there are still some active flames in the interior.
"Even though it's not really big flames, we call it active because there is smoke out there, so wherever there's smoke, there's fire," Sadecki said, laughing.
Sadecki says residents who were evacuated were allowed to go home Tuesday night. No injuries, but one building and a couple vehicles were damaged.
Another fire broke out Tuesday near Santa Ynez. It grew quickly to 170 acres and jumped the 154 and Highway 246. It's contained now, but it's still warm there with winds blowing up to 50 miles per hour.
