Two people were taken to the hospital and no one was in custody after a shooting downtown Monday. Police said they believed two suspects were seen running away.

Two people have been shot and wounded a block away from an elementary school near downtown Los Angeles.

Police spokesman Richard French says officers responded to a call of several shots heard near a playground at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters responded to the 1400 block of West 11th Street and took two people to a hospital.

Details remained sparse, but French says police do not have anyone in custody and believe there were possibly two suspects who were seen running away.
