The Los Angeles Fire Department was being asked to close all lanes of the northbound Interstate 5 near Mission Hills as about 100 firefighters battled a four-acre brush fire, City News Service reported.
The firefighters were supported by helicopter crews as they contended with the fire in medium brush near the Golden State Freeway and Roxford Street near Mission Hills, David Ortiz of the Los Angeles Fire Department told CNS.
The California Highway Patrol sent out an alert on Twitter:
