A Los Angeles man who repeatedly molested his 10-year-old stepdaughter has been sentenced to six years in jail, as well as four years of probation.

The district attorney's office says 26-year-old Jaime Perez of Los Angeles was sentenced Monday. He pleaded no contest to 10 charges and must register as a sex offender. He's also prohibited from contacting the victim for 10 years, according to a press release from the DA's office.

Authorities arrested Perez earlier this year after authorities found pornography on a cellphone that his stepdaughter had taken to school. The girl then told school authorities that she'd been repeatedly molested over the past three years, as recently as January of this year according to the DA's office.

“The young victim in this case showed extraordinary courage by coming forward and reporting this atrocious crime," L.A. DA Mike Feuer said in a press release.

The girl is now in foster care.
