4.2 earthquake shakes up Central California coast

A small earthquake has rattled an area off the Central California coast, but there are no reports of any injuries or damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude-4.2 quake hit around 5:15 p.m. Friday, 26 miles west of Lompoc, at a depth of about eight miles.

Lompoc police Agent Cory Cox said nobody called to report damages or injuries from the quake.

Lompoc is about 150 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
