A Southern California man has been arrested for investigation of murder a day after the body of his 66-year-old mother was found in the trunk of her car.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says 43-year-old Clifton Huang is jailed on $2 million bail.
City News Service reports that Huang was originally taken into custody Thursday for a possible probation violation.
The body of Vilma Chau was found Thursday morning, her hands and feet bound.
Sheriff's Deputy Peter Gomez says authorities went to Chau's home to check on her after family members reported they hadn't seen her in several days.
An odor led them to the garage, where they found the body.
Authorities say they don't have a motive for the slaying.
The cause of death is under investigation.
