Weekend Traffic: Freeway closures, Dodgers games and more

The Seal Beach Boulevard bridge over the I-405 freeway is being reconstructed one half at a time. Back in late summer 2012, the bridge was reduced to one lane in each direction, with a center median dedicated solely to emergency services vehicle. This configuration will remain in place until the west half of the bridge is completed on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013. An extended closure also is required to grade, pave and restripe the roadway and modify signal timing in the final hours before the bridge opens Sunday morning. This closure will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. Following this closure, the new west half of the bridge will be open to the public.

Portions of Seal Beach Boulevard to close around I-405

Crews are expected to reopen all lanes of the Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge on Sunday at 11 a.m. But there will be one final push before, meaning more weekend closures (in addition to regularly scheduled nighttime closures) before the big day. According to a press release sent out by Orange County Transportation Authority, the agency overseeing the project:

The Seal Beach Boulevard on-ramp to the northbound I-405 freeway will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday through 11 a.m. Sunday. Seal Beach Boulevard and all remaining on- and off-ramps to the I-405 will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday.
