The wonderful weather is back. There's no time like the present to grab a friend and try something new: Get rowdy with the Long Beach Derby Gals, talk to astronomers or slap on a bib and eat a greasy ramen burger. It's all happening this weekend in 'hoods around Southern California.

Here's everything you need to know:

1. Cover yourself in a blanket of sparkly stars

Make star angels on the lawn of Griffith Observatory during its biggest public star party. Expect telescopes, astronomers and lots of science junkies. Have an iPhone? Install the Star Walk app and find your favorite constellations for that perfect stargazing moment.

Pro tip: No more parking woes. Plan ahead.

When: 2:00 to 9:45 p.m. Saturday

Where: Griffith Observatory | MAP

Price: Free

2. Roll with the derby girls of Long Beach

The Long Beach Derby Gals are ready to cause a ruckus and strut their stuff during a fierce face-off between the Breakwater Bombshells and Cyclone Racers. Grab some booze at the gals' new location and listen to tunes from DJ Almighty Nectar with a half-time show by The D*Maggs

Pro tip: Shop Crafted's vendors beforehand. But don't skip the pre-derby festivities; the folks from Sirena Serpentina will perform a special tribal fire belly dance.

When:  6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday

3. Eat ramen in every way, shape and form

Two words: RAMEN BURGER. It's happening this weekend with ramen restaurants from around the country converging at the first ever Yokocho Fest hosted by the L.A.-based Japanese magazine Weekly LALALA.  And for those who aren't into the gazillion-calorie burger, there's good news: Choose from a variety of other foods from spicy miso to curly noodles.

Pro tip: Get a game plan and scope out the 12 shops before you go.

When: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Where: Torrance Cultural Arts Center | MAP

Price: Free entry; all ramen dishes are $8

4. Make it a Sunday Funday at Silverlake Wine

Experience Sonoma in your own backyard with this local wineries' weekly wine and food tasting.  Throughout the two-hour event, each of the four featured wines will be paired with an hors d’oeuvre — all presented by staff with informative tidbits. Expect to leave slightly buzzed with a slew of new friends.

Pro tip: You'll have to stand during the tasting so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

When: 3 p.m. Sundays

Where: Silverlake Wine | MAP

Price: $20 per person

5. Attend this Wall Street party with a cause

Nibble on cheese and drink wine at Glendale's Geo Gallery Friday. The Wall Street Project combines a collection of photos that capture various landscapes across California from the quiet residential streets in San Jose and Redding to Skid Row in Los Angeles. Prizes include tickets to the Alex Theatre and a framed print of any of these stellar photos. All proceeds go to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Pro tip: Grab food and booze before or after at the nearby Viva Cantina — great margaritas and good prices.

When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday

Where: Geo Gallery | MAP

Price: Free admission | Raffle tickets are $5 each; 5 for $20
