Weekend Traffic: Freeway closures may affect SoCal commuters

60 freeway will see some closures this weekend.

Construction between the 405, 22 and 605 freeways is not yet over as Caltrans continues to make progress on the second phase of the Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge as part of the West County Connectors project this week.

The following nightly closures might affect commuters crossing the Orange Curtain between Orange County and Los Angeles County.

  • Northbound 405 freeway from Valley View Street to the northbound 605 interchange will be closed nightly through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • Westbound 22 freeway from Valley View Street to the northbound 405 interchange will be closed nightly through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • The 405 South between Studebaker Road and Bolsa Chica Road will be closed  nightly through Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., and again on from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday. 
  • 7th Street/22 East connector to southbound 405 will be closed nightly through Saturday from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • 7th Street/22 East connector to northbound 605 will be closed nightly through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • Northbound 405 connector to northbound 605 will be closed nightly through Friday 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., and again from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday. 
  • Southbound 605 connector to southbound 405 freeway will be closed nightly through Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., and again from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

The 60 Freeway will also see closures this weekend. Portions of the freeway between the 605 and 57 freeways will be subject to closures for a pavement rehabilitation project.

Of the closures, the most intrusive are:

  • The 60 West will be completely closed between southbound 57 and Azusa Avenue starting Friday at 11:59 p.m. to Saturday at 5 a.m. 
  • The connector from the north- and southbound 57 to westbound 60 will be closed Friday through Sunday 11 p.m. to 10 a.m. 
  • The connector from north- and southbound 605 to eastbound 60 will be closed Friday through Sunday 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. 

605/10 connector to close

Caltrans is scheduled to closed the north- and southbound 605 connectors to the eastbound 10 freeway for pavement and drainage work. The closure will begin Friday at 10 p.m. and last until Monday at 5 a.m. The eastbound 10 Frazier Street off-ramp will also be closed during this time.

  • Connector Closure: The westbound SR-138 connector to southbound I-5 will be closed until Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. Read More
SR-57
  • Ramp Closure at Yorba Linda Boulevard: A 57-hour closure will be in place for the Yorba Linda Boulevard off-ramp from the 57 north starting at 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Detour from the 57 north by exiting Nutwood Avenue, make a right onto eastbound Nutwood Avenue, then a left onto northbound Placentia Avenue and lastly a left onto westbound Yorba Linda Boulevard. I-10
  • Ramp Restriction at Date Palm Drive: The eastbound I-10 ramps at Date Palm Drive will be restricted to no left turns for a 30-day period beginning Sept. 12. Towards the end of this 30-day period, Date Palm Drive between I-10 and Varner Road will also be closed. Read More
