File: A Burmese cat is presented on July 25, 2009 during a two-day international cat exhibition in Prague.

A Los Angeles firefighter faces felony battery and other charges for allegedly beating a woman feeding stray cats in his neighborhood after she threw cat kibble at him during a verbal altercation.

The Los Angeles Times reports 37-year-old Ian Justin Eulian, a fire engineer, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

His 70-year-old mother, Lonieta Antonietta Fontaine, is due in court Friday to also face charges connected to the Sept. 14 beating of an unidentified 47-year-old woman.

Prosecutors say Ian Eulian yelled at the woman for feeding stray cats. When she threw kibble at him to get him to back off, he allegedly punched her several times.

Lonieta Fontaine is accused of slapping the woman several times.

Prosecutors say a surveillance camera captured the blows delivered by the pair to the victim.
