Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa is taking on a new position as senior advisor at the global public relations firm Edelman, the company announced Tuesday.
The company's global Public Affairs chair Katie Burke writes:
"Antonio’s ability to build coalitions across ideological divides in order to find solutions to some of today’s leading challenges for government and business will be an invaluable resource for our clients as he serves as a strategic counselor.”
The job at Edelman is one of many new roles the former mayor has taken on since leaving office. He was just named senior fellow of the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC), a Washington, DC-based think tank. And last month, he took a gig with Herbalife, which surprised and disappointed the head of D.C.-based Latino activist group.
According to Politico, at Edelman the former mayor will "help clients navigate a variety of public policy challenges in the United States and abroad from a public affairs and public relations perspective."
“Obviously, working with a company — a public affairs company — that has a footprint around the world including Latin America and Asia was important,” Villaraigosa told Politico.
