This June, 2013 photo released by the Hernandez family Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, shows Transportation Security Administration officer Gerardo Hernandez. Hernandez, 39, was shot to death and several others wounded by a gunman who went on a shooting rampage in Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport Friday.

Friends and co-workers of the TSA officer killed in last week's shooting at Los Angeles International Airport gathered for a vigil last night at Dockweiler State Beach, according to NBC4.

One colleague called Gerardo Hernandez a hero. TSA supervisor Danielle Arocho and agent Jose Araujo both worked with Hernandez.

"He was loved. He's a brother — he's an hermano, that's how we say it — and he's going to be missed and he's never going to be forgotten," Araujo said.

"You can only imagine the joy he (brought) to the checkpoint. Always joking, always laughing, always trying to get out of something," Arocho said.

The two spoke with NBC4. Gerardo Hernandez was the first TSA officer killed in the line of duty.
