This photo provided by the FBI shows Paul Ciancia, 23. Authorities say Ciancia pulled a semi-automatic rifle from a bag and shot his way past a security checkpoint at the airport, killing a security officer and wounding other people. Ciancia was injured in a shootout and taken into custody, police said.

The suspected gunman behind the shootings that left a security agent dead and two others injured at Terminal 3 of Los Angeles International Airport has been released from the hospital into federal custody.

Paul Anthony Ciancia, 23, was released Monday from Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since the November 1st attack.
