FBI spokeswoman Lourdes Arocho confirmed to KPCC that Ciancia had been released into federal custody, but she could not provide any further details.

Prosecutors say Ciancia shot and killed TSA agent Gerardo Hernandez and wounded two others in Terminal 3 at LAX. Police then shot Ciancia.

No court appearances have been scheduled for Ciancia, said a spokesman for the U.S. Attorneys office.
