KPCC announced the launch of a free app for iPad, a new way for users of the tablet device to access all of KPCC's news and information content as audio, text, images and video.

With the app's launch, KPCC introduces The Short List, a digest of the best stories from KPCC and around the web. Our mobile producers scour the web to select and summarize the day's most essential stories, pair them with rich photos, and publish them each morning and afternoon.

In addition, tremendous attention went into the design of our audio player, which is docked at the bottom of the screen. Tap it upon launching the app to play the KPCC live stream or save stories or episodes as you find them for later listening.

KPCC's new iPad app

Through the app, users can access NPR mainstays such as Radiolab and This American Life or KPCC original programs AirTalk and Take Two.

The KPCC for iPad app can be customized to each listener’s preferences: Just select favorites in the app's "Programs" section to add links to your favorite shows to the app’s navigation. When new episodes become available, they will automatically appear in your queue.

The new app also showcases KPCC’s extensive visual journalism with an immersive full-screen presentation that's unique to the tablet. Photo slideshows and video are available via the navigation or embedded in the news itself.

Beyond listening to and reading the news, the app is an open invitation to engage with the issues affecting Southern California. The Live Events section lists all upcoming events at the Crawford Family Forum. You can RSVP to any future event or stream them live and watch them remotely.

KPCC built the new app in-house, with critical input from more than 600 users who took part in a beta test.

We're also interested in what you think. As a member-supported news organization, we depend on your feedback to develop and refine the services that we provide.

Once you download the app and try it out, let us know what you think by using the feedback button in the app’s menu. You can also email us at mobilefeedback@kpcc.org.
