3.1 earthquake hits Los Angeles' Westside

A 3.1 earthquake hit Los Angeles' Westside late Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's website.

The small quake was centered one mile northwest of Marina del Rey, according to the USGS, at six miles deep.

The Los Angeles Fire Department tweeted shortly after the quake that there had been no emergency calls related to the quake and no reports of damage.

Residents reporting on the USGS community response Web page characterized the intensity as weak to light.
