Sheriff's officials say they've arrested a suspect in last week's stabbing murder of a man aboard the Metro Red Line near the Vermont/Santa Monica Station.
Sheriff's spokesman Jeff Gordon says the department received an anonymous tip which led to the arrest of 25-year-old Angelo Correia at his home in North Hollywood on Friday.
Correia is suspected of stabbing Jose Velazco-Alvarado, 34, on the Red Line in the neck after a brief encounter on the train last Monday. Velazco-Alvarado was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
The motive for the attack is still not yet known.
Correia is being held in lieu $1M bail.
