Pop star Justin Bieber has left a Florida jail following his arrest earlier in the day on charges including driving under the influence and resisting arrest.
Bieber was arrested on DUI and driving without a license charges on a residential Miami Beach street. He was booked at 10:36 a.m. EST Thursday on charges of resisting an officer without violence to his person, driving under the influence and driving with an expired license, according to Miami-Dade County records. He was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on bonds totaling $2,500.
Television footage early Thursday showed a van believed to be carrying the pop star from a Miami Beach police station to a Miami-Dade County jail. The van was trailed by squad cars. After the van left the station, police said Bieber was gone.
Bieber may have also had drugs in his system, according to NBC4. Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez told an NBC affiliate that Bieber admitted to consuming alcohol and prescription medications and smoking marijuana.
Police say Bieber and an R&B singer known as Khalil were arrested early Thursday.
According to police, Bieber was driving a Lamborghini and Khalil was driving a Ferrari.
Sgt. Bobby Hernandez says Bieber failed a field sobriety test.
