A drop is made near Route 39 on Thursday afternoon. The Colby Fire is 30 percent contained and has burned 1,700 acres in the mountains near Glendora according to LA County Fire.

Falling rocks and debris in the Colby Fire burn area along State Route 39 in the Angeles National Forest have forced Caltrans to close off the highway until a barrier is put in place. The San Gabriel Canyon Road is expected to reopen Saturday, but until then only residents and business owners are being permitted access.
