Police say one person was wounded in a car-to-car shooting in South Los Angeles late Wednesday morning.
LAPD officer Bruce Borihanh told KPCC the shooting was reported at 10:42 a.m. at 57th and Hoover and appears to be gang related.
The victim's girlfriend drove the victim to 36th and Vermont Avenue near the University of Southern California and called paramedics, who transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition, Borihanh said.
Around 11:12 a.m., USC sent out an alert asking folks to avoid Gate 6 on campus. The university has since announced that the medical emergency is clear and the area is open for regular business.
The shooting did not occur anywhere near USC or the campus and did not appear to have anything to do with the university, according to Borihanh.
The suspect was described as a male driving a late model gold Mercedes.
