L.A. sheriff's deputies and firefighters have cleared a Palmdale home where an explosion occurred this afternoon.

A resident of 37500 block of 29th Street East reported an unpleasant smell coming from the home where the explosion happened. Officials at the scene determined it was a drug lab operating out of a garage. Meth and marijuana were being produced in the lab, Palmdale Supervisor Fire Dispatcher Cheryl Sims told KPCC.

A home adjacent to the explosion was evacuated. No injuries were reported.

“[Officials are] evaluating the situation so they can make entry into the home and do a reading on the levels of toxic odor in the home,” Sims said.

Deputies have blocked off an area around the home and five Los Angeles County Fire Department units are on the scene, along with sheriff's deputies and hazardous materials officials.

Los Angeles Sheriff's Department tweeted that the explosion was from a propane tank.
