UPDATE 6:30 p.m.: Pasadena Police have arrested 18-year Jonjon Crummie, who's suspected in the fatal shooting of a young woman in an apartment Sunday.
Police in Pasadena are searching for a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a young woman in an apartment Sunday, the Pasadena Police Department said in a release.
The 19-year-old victim was pronounced dead Sunday morning. Officers responded to a call at about 8:48 a.m. of shots fired at the 1500 block of North Raymond Avenue.
The shooting was the first homicide in Pasadena this year.
An investigation led to identifying Jonjon Crummie, 18, as a suspect. Crummie has black hair and brown eyes, is 5-foot, 11 inches and weighs 130 pounds. Crummie was wearing black pants, a black “hoodie” and black shoes. He was last seen running northbound from the shooting location.
A SWAT team, assisted by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department bloodhound, scoured the area to investigate Sunday and found no one, the Associated Press reported.
“At this moment he is not in custody,” Pasadena Police Lt. Ed Calatayud told KPCC Monday afternoon. “He is still wanted by the Pasadena Police Department for homicide. He’s considered armed and dangerous.”
Details of the relationship between Crummie and the victim are being withheld pending further investigation, Calatayud said.
“We’d like to get Mr. Crummie into custody and interview him regarding his relationship and the details about what occurred on the 16th.
The motive for the shooting is currently unknown.
Police are still on the ground looking for Crummie. Catalayud urged anyone who knows Crummie’s whereabouts to call the Pasadena Police Department.
