Friends and family will gather Thursday to remember Nicholas Lee, a 16-year Los Angeles police veteran who died when a truck slammed into his police cruiser Friday

His partner, who is only being identified as Stephanie, was injured in the crash but released from the hospital Saturday evening

KPCC previously reported that L.A. Police Chief Beck said preliminary findings indicated that the accident may have been caused by a brake failure on the part of the truck.

The funeral proceedings are as follows:

A rosary will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at St. Basil Church, 3611 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.

The funeral is scheduled to take place Thursday at 9 a.m. at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, 555 W. Temple St., Los Angeles.

The burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., in Glendale.

Donations are being accepted through the Los Angeles Police Federation Union to support Lee's survivors, who include his wife and two young daughters.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated how long Lee was employed with the LAPD.
