Street closures planned for funeral procession of LAPD Officer Nicholas Lee

Authorities plan to close streets as early as Wednesday evening as part of memorial services for LAPD Officer Nicholas Choung Lee, who died in a traffic accident in Beverly Hills last week.

The services could impact traffic in Los Angeles and Glendale as early as Wednesday night, with a rosary service scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. at St. Basil Catholic Church on Wilshire Boulevard. The LAPD warns commuters of heavy traffic on Wilshire, between Normandie and Western avenues, until 10 p.m.

Lee, a 16-year veteran of the LAPD, was killed after the patrol car he was in collided with a commercial truck at an intersection in Beverly Hills. Lee was accompanied by a rookie officer, who is expected to survive the crash.

Funeral services are planned for Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles. Following the funeral, interment services will be observed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.

Authorities plan to close several streets in downtown Los Angeles beginning at 6:30 a.m. Thursday. Closures are also planned along the procession route, which will include portions of Temple Street, Glendale Boulevard and San Fernando Road. See the map below for the full procession route:
