Police have identified the woman they say is responsible for leaving a veteran motorcycle officer in critical condition Saturday in Sun Valley.

As of 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the officer was in "stable but critical condition'' with "grave injuries,'' said LAPD spokeswoman Officer Rosario Herrera.

Qaneak Cobb, 33, was arrested at the scene for felony DUI and is being held in lieu of $185,000 bail. She's suspected of being under the influence of drugs, LAPD Valley Traffic Division Officer Patton, who declined to give his first name, told KPCC.

The injured officer was waiting at a red light at Saticoy Street and Lankershim Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle failed to stop, slamming into the motorcycle, LAPD Sgt. Kurt Smith said.

The officer was sandwiched between two vehicles, Smith said. He was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

The officer, whose name has not yet been released, was gravely injured and is still in critical condition. He is a 26-year veteran of the LAPD, the L.A. Times reported.

It's not yet clear if anyone else was injured in the crash.
