About 300 people were evacuated Tuesday afternoon at a construction site in Pomona.
"There was people complaining of eye irritation, minor rashes and respiratory problems. Our hazmat team responded with a few engines, and we found out there was an adhesive remover that was having a reaction," Los Angeles County Fire Captain Tom Richards said.
Richards says a hazmat team arrived at the scene at the 200 block of South Locust Street shortly after 2 p.m.
About 20 people complained of injuries, Richard said. Eight of them have been hospitalized.
