Police say a 150-pound tortoise that was found strolling down a street in the Los Angeles suburb of Alhambra has been reunited with its family.

Police say the massive reptile was discovered Saturday afternoon making a break for freedom. Two officers were needed to lift the creature into a squad car in order to get it to animal control.

Needless to say, giant tortoises are not native to the L.A. area. A police spokeswoman said the family who owned the tortoise had kept it in a home nearby.
