The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday voted 9-2 to approve a $26 million settlement with sanitation workers who said they were denied proper meal breaks.  There was no discussion accompanying the vote. Council members Mitch Englander and Joe Buscaino were the sole dissenters.

Before the vote, a Superior Court judge had agreed that the denial of meal breaks was a violation of state law. Money to pay the settlement will come from the city’s Solid Waste Resources Revenue Fund.
