A woman was shot while exiting from the 5 Freeway on Wednesday morning, according to police.
Around 6 a.m., the woman was driving northbound on the 5 Freeway when someone shot at her from behind, a police spokesperson told KPCC. As she attempted to exit at Colorado Boulevard, the assailant allegedly drove up to the car and fired again with a shotgun.
The victim had injuries to her upper torso, arm and neck, police said, which appeared to be from pellets from the shotgun. The suspect fled in an unknown direction in a dark-colored SUV, according to police.
The victim was in surgery late Wednesday morning, according to police, but her injuries were not life threatening.
Police say they don't know if the shooting was gang-related.
