The first official weekend of fall is here, not that LA’s weather is any indication. Temperatures will be toasty this weekend, but we’ve got ways for you to stay cool indoors and outdoors. And if you feel like embracing fall, check out this map of where to find fall foliage in California. Here’s all you need to know for weekend fun.

1. LA Beer Fest

If you want to brave the heat and knock back some cold brews, check out Drink Eat Play’s fall edition of LA Beer Fest. Over 200 beers will be there to taste, plus food trucks and DJs. Just make sure to stay hydrated with something other than just beer. Admission covers the cost of all beer tastings. Pro tip: Tickets won’t be sold at the door so pre-buy them online.

When: Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.

2. Beatles Tribute Festival

Beatlemania is alive and well. And this weekend it's taking over the Pico Rivera Sports Arena. Join other John, Paul, George and Ringo lovers in a celebration featuring music stages, karaoke, a beer garden, a movie tent and tons of Beatles memorabilia!

3. Surf City, Surf Dog competition

This heat screams “beach day” and what’s even more fun than hanging out at the beach? Watching dogs surf at the beach! The 7th annual Unleashed by Petco Surf City, Surf Dog competition promises to be “three days of doggone fun for all!” The actual dog surfing happens Sunday but Friday will have a dog costume contest and on Saturday you can attend a reception for a history of dog surfing exhibit at the International Surfing Museum. 

When: Sunday, 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

4. WeHo reads banned books

Take some time to read this weekend. Not just any book, one that's been banned before. WeHo Reads, The City of West Hollywood's ongoing author series, is having a day long celebration in honor of Banned Books week. In a day you can check out children's book readings, workshops and panels from authors that have been banned for issues related to race, gender, sexuality and more.

5. "Aladdin” at El Capitan

6. L.A. Chocolate Salon 

Chocolate wasted

If you've got a sweet tooth, the L.A. Chocolate Salon is calling your name. The artisan, gourmet and premium chocolate salon is happening in Pasadena and will be gathering chocolatiers, chefs, confectioners and other culinary artists that are ready to talk chocolate to you. They'll even let you taste it! Did we mention there will also be wine?

7. An evening of spoken word and hip hop

The Armory believes in the power of sharing art, so on Friday, the arts org is celebrating its intern partnerships with an evening of spoken word and hip hop from local artists like K SolarHugh Augustine and Linafornia. Hear artists rhyme and share their poetry, before getting the chance to share some art yourself during their open mic slot.

8.  Angel City Jazz Festival at LACMA

Catch some contemporary art Friday evening and stay longer for the Jazz Festival celebrating West Coast and global art sounds at LACMA. Up and coming musicians and established jazz artists will grace you with innovative and original sounds. It's all going down right next to the museum's famous street lamps.

9. Watch the Supermoon eclipse

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no—it’s supermoon! Coming to a sky near you on Sunday, a total lunar eclipse and a so-called "supermoon" will happen during primetime viewing hours. That means not only will the moon be completely covered by the Earth's shadow, it will also appear about 14 percent larger in the sky than it usually does.
