What are you going to be for Halloween? The dreaded question that gets more irritating every year. If you're opting for something more creative than "This is my Halloween costume" T-shirt, we're here to help you brainstorm. Enter the list of last-minute Halloween costumes that will totally impress your newshound friends.

1. A presidential candidate

The 2016 presidential election has bestowed an inspiring lineup of characters upon Halloween revelers. For a simple option, look no further than the most popular democratic socialist of the bunch. Just wear a tie, eyeglass frames, a wispy, white headpiece and practice your best Larry-David-as-Bernie-Sanders impression. An alternative for the not-so-creative: This questionable get-up.

2. El Niño

Thanks to El Niño, a wet winter is (likely) coming. Get everyone excited with a hand puppet like Kevin Ferguson's. Or if you're super committed, try a fluffier, bejeweled headpiece like this

3. #Shadeballs

Leave it to L.A.'s social media-savvy mayor to turn a water-saving project into a hashtag sensation. Here's how you can be the infamous #shadeballs: Affix a few shiny, black spheres to a bodysuit (upcycle that Catwoman costume, perhaps?), and you're set!

4. A Snapchat filter

Memorialize the ephemeral things in life — like the rainbow puke Snapchat filter — with a face paint kit. This is bound to be a hit with the snappers.

5. Judge Ito

The O.J. Simpson trial verdict came down two decades ago this month. Channel the judge who presided over the biggest media circus trial of the 20th century with a black robe, square frames, faux facial hair and a gavel. This.

6. Smokey the Bear

Look at that hottie.

Thanks to the drought, fires made big headlines this summer. Remind everyone to stay alert — just like Smokey the Bear would — in a ranger hat and denim pants.
