The 134 Freeway was closed for several hours Sunday morning after a suspect shot an LAPD vehicle in Eagle Rock near Figueroa Boulevard. The freeway has since reopened in both directions, although the suspect has not been found.

No officers were hit in the incident, although a bullet struck a driver’s side door of the police car, LAPD spokesperson Norma Eisenman told KPCC.

The shooting, which happened around 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning, prompted the closure of the freeway in both directions between Figueroa and Orange Grove boulevards as police began a search for the suspect. Officers were able to obtain more information or witnesses at the scene, so the area search has transitioned into an investigation into the incident.

Information is not yet available on how many shots were fired or what type of gun was used.
