A month after his conviction in a corruption case, the former mayor of Compton has been sentenced to three years of probation and a year in county jail that he has already served.

Omar Bradley was found guilty July 28 of two counts of misappropriating public funds. Los Angeles County prosecutors said he used thousands of dollars in taxpayer funds for personal expenses including golf shoes, cigars and pricey hotel stays.

KCBS-TV reports a judge on Wednesday suspended a three-year state prison term with the condition that the 59-year-old complies with the terms of his probation.

Bradley was first convicted in 2004 and spent three years in prison before an appeals court overturned his conviction in 2012.

He ran for mayor again this year but lost to incumbent Aja Brown.
