Authorities are investigating a gruesome double-homicide in Lancaster. On Saturday morning, two people were found shot to death in the street.

Deputies responded to a call regarding an "assault with a deadly weapon" around 1:35 a.m. on the 43000 block of Sixth Street East.

"Upon arriving, they found a female and a male gunshot victim, lying on the street. Both appear to be in their early twenties or late teens," deputy Jeffrey Gordon with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department tells KPCC.

The shootings occurred after an altercation at a party, according to our media partner NBC 4.

The two victims are in their late teens or early 20s. The victims had gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A white car was seen driving away from the scene but stopped nearby.

Deputies have not released the identities of the victims or any information about a suspect.
