Wikipedia Gatekeeping and Free Speech
Wikipedia has become a staple in internet research - for quick information it's the place to go. The internet encyclopedia is unique in the sense that the public has the opportunity to amend, correct and add to the entries. Yet, this week contributions from the Los Angeles branch of Scientology were blocked because members were revising entries with a “pro-scientology” viewpoint. Mangers also blocked some critics of the religion from editing entries. The crack down has caused a stir in the cyber community. Is Wikipedia stepping on free speech or is this just an attempt at net "neutrality?"
