Your guest on this segment, the so-called "Human Rights Lawyer", was in essence, if not in fact, a CIA agent representing the interests of the US State Department. Have you ever heard of a human rights lawyer supporting the interests of a military coup? It was absolutely shameful and naive for Larry and his producers to have this kind of garbage on the program.
He completely misrepresented the facts of the case, suggesting that Zelaya was supporting a referendum to keep himself in office, when in fact it said, "Do you agree that, during the general elections of November 2009 there should be a fourth ballot to decide whether to hold a Constituent National Assembly that will approve a new political constitution?" It was a question about a question essentially. In fact, Zelaya would have finished his term by the time this National Assembly would have taken place.
This coup was the result of a ruling elite that could not handle a power shift to popular elements such as labor, human rights, and those that oppose the washington "consensus" and neo-liberal economic warfare.
I suggest you read this article to inform yourself, and talk to journalists on the ground and real human rights lawyers next time:

Please do your homework. It does your reputation no good to be seen as such a push over when you allow guests on who are clearly state supported propagandists.
